Great Cover

Great cover of Ricky Gervais's song but you need to credit him in the author comments dudes. Love all your songs btw.

You remind me of me :)

Hey i like the song and the other one (leaving one review for both songs because im lazy lol). You remind me of myself in the sense that my songs are usually just acoustic guitar and vocals. Don't listen to anyone who tells you not to use your voice. You've got a really nice voice. Its refreshing to hear a singer who doesnt sound emo or horribly generic.
Having said that though i have got a few tips:
Try to explore some genres which aren't too "poppy". Some darkness in a song really makes the happier bits sound 10 times more happy.
In songs like this and the other one, they could really do with a bass layer. Infact thats a tip for most songs using metal stringed acoustic guitars. They just dont have enough tune for themselves and a bass layer would really compliment the vocals.

Good stuff though :) Keep it up

Reall nice song

The song itself was great. The girl has a REALLY good voice. Just try and get a better recording of it? Or atleast mix and master it a little better? But seriously.... nice song and lovely voice.

Love it.

Great chord progressions. Really like this song. Can't wait to hear it with the vocals.

That's cool to hear it from you man, thanks for the comment.

Excellent

... Sounds a little bit compressed but its incredibly good. Tempted to buy the EP :). Really love your music, especially your acoustic stuff but your electronic stuff rocks too :)

Kingbastard responds:

Thanks.
it IS a little compressed just so i could squeeze it under the 8mb limit:D The WAV sounds much better:)

Absolutely love it

The progression of notes in this piece is astonishing and the instruments you chose work brilliantly. You were right... it truly is calm and beautiful.

Its excellent for what it is....

For an entry to the castle crashers competition, its great. I can completely imagine playing a video game with this music in the background. However, there are plenty of songs which i can imagine playing a game over and that could be the downfall of this. Although its well constructed, and almost perfectly mixed (although a thicker bass would definitely not go a miss), its not quite unique enough.
Having said that, it would be perfect for a "travelling" part in the game, or somethign which doesn't require a great deal of concentration. You certainly produce some unique music (judging from your other stuff) and i can see why you submitted this as a CC theme. Its definitely in my top 5 (out of the songs ive listened to for the CC contest... and ive listened to a lot). Keep up the good work :)

Wow, that's a good review! Good reviews like this makes me tick! Thanx alot, man!!!

I liked it. Its a great song.

The title of the review really sums up how i feel about it. Its a great song... excellent in many ways. The one problem i really have with it is the mixing. You've got a fantastic song, but surely you can tell that the vocals are too quiet? Its not a huge problem by any means, but i think the song would be better improved if they were prominent, otherwise it sounds more like a live recording.
However, as a song (recording aside), i loved it. I loved how you stretched your voice to the max on parts, and the chord progressions were ace. 4 minutes in was a nice surpise. Normally i would push something like that aside as annoying, but it worked almost perfectly with the song. And after this, i feel like the song really kicked off. The high pitched ?soloing? was great, giving a kind of Guns N Roses feel to it. Great stuff man :)

Naitzmic responds:

Yeah, I *completely* agree with you about the sound.
I didn't bother adjusting the volumes at all, in this one actually.
For no other appearent reason than wanting to shoot myself in the foot,
I decided to just skip the mastering process... =\

Glad you didn't turn it off at the 4-minute mark. Hehe.
It's "kind of" unusal even for a solo, in the way that
it's not so much melodic, and instead just "almost-in-key"-tapping,
with a long bend at the end.
As with 90% of my solos, it was improvised rather than
written down note-by-note in advance, and
it was an interesting approach to it - or at least I thought so,
at the time I played it.

The chord progression/melody at large was
the result of two insirational sources.
The first being the band "Manic Street Preachers (which I don't
even particularly like myself), and the second one was - and this
is going to sound ridiculous - Kathrina and the Waves with "Love Shine a Light".
Of course, their infuence was only inspirational and you
can't really tell since the song sounds very little like any of them.

Anyways, thanks alot for the review.
I deeply appreciate it.

Loving it :)

Absolutely great. Cant get enough of this song. Excellent work.

I love it

This is so different to how i wrote it, but its so excellent. This is almost an entirely different song, i love how you slowed it down, picked the notes and just the general way you instrumentalized it. Also, the vocals were great. It sounded 100x more manly then i can manage (lol :( ). They worked well with the more ballady feel of it as well.

Overall 5/5 and 10/10. I loved the "solo" sort of things you added in.

Naitzmic responds:

Hehe, yeah. It did turn out pretty different, but what would be
the point in making an exact replica, right?

Glad you liked it, and thanks for letting me do this.
